Five Major Trends in Dash Cams: Delivering All-Around, High-Definition Driving Surveillance

The dashcam market is rapidly evolving toward five key trends: multi-camera integration, 4K HDR video recording, sleek and vehicle-integrated designs, enhanced low-light performance with advanced sensors, and support for high-speed storage and data transfer. These improvements collectively enhance image clarity, coverage, and storage stability.

MDT’s Mio brand showcases the new MiVue R888W4 E-mirror type dashcam, which integrates front, rear, side, and in-cabin views in a single device. Equipped with high-sensitivity sensors and high-speed storage, it delivers stable and detailed video even in low-light conditions. The MiVue R880WD and R888W3 models also feature ultra-bright 1500 nits screens, ensuring clear visibility even under direct sunlight for improved usability and safety.

Another new model, the MiVue 960W3, offers industry-leading 8K HD recording (4K front camera + dual-cam MiVue E80 for 2K rear and in-cabin views), providing triple-view coverage across front, rear, and in-cabin perspectives. It targets premium drivers seeking comprehensive, high-quality footage in all driving and parking scenarios.

The MiVue™ MK50 marks Mio’s debut of a motorcycle dashcam with a built-in display, making its first appearance in Taiwan. Equipped with a 5.5-inch IPS touchscreen, it supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enabling riders to access navigation, music, and communications directly. The device records front and rear footage with advanced imaging technologies, including the SONY STARVIS™ 2 sensor, HDR, and electronic image stabilization (EIS), delivering superior video quality. The display also doubles as a digital rearview mirror, allowing riders to monitor real-time rear traffic without turning their heads.

Additionally, the MK50 functions as a digital dashboard, displaying key riding data such as speed, trip distance, direction, and tire pressure (with optional TPMS). It also features Mio’s exclusive speed camera database, providing real-time speed camera alerts without requiring the app to be opened—ensuring a connected, safer, and more informed riding experience.

Fleet Management Solution with Seven-Channel Video Integration and Cloud-Based Analysis

A four-time Taiwan Excellence Award winner, MDT continues to push the boundaries of vehicle AI with its latest fleet management solution.

The system integrates the MioWORK F840 vehicle tablet, which not only supports navigation and task dispatch but also functions as a real-time video display. Camera views automatically switch based on driving behavior—such as activating turn signals or shifting into reverse—helping drivers reduce blind spots and prevent operational errors.

The solution pairs with MDT’s K series connected dashcams, supporting up to seven camera inputs for comprehensive coverage of the vehicle’s front, rear, side blind spots, in-cabin, and rear surroundings. Beyond high-resolution recording, the K series dashcams enable cloud-based functions such as real-time event uploads, remote monitoring, and secure data backup. Through integration with MDT’s AI-powered cloud platform, VisionMaxTM, fleet managers can conduct driver behavior analysis, receive event alerts, and ensure operational safety via centralized, intelligent video data management.

For backend analysis, MDT employs Cloud AI algorithms to enhance Driver Monitoring System (DMS) accuracy. The system detects behaviors such as fatigue, distraction, mobile phone use, and failure to wear seatbelts. Leveraging high-quality video for secondary cloud-based analysis, it improves detection precision and reduces false positives by up to 30%, providing fleet operators with more actionable insights for driver coaching and safety oversight.
